A hamster or gerbil in the wild would shred, stuff and rearrange its own bedding constantly, which is a habit that doesn't stop just because the bedding now comes from a bag.

These Play 'n' Bedding pods are natural Kapok seed pods filled with Rosewood's soft 'n' safe bedding fibre, sold as a pack of 2. Rosewood describe the fibre as naturally anti-bacterial and biodegradable, and the pods themselves as sustainably harvested. A hamster, mouse or gerbil can gnaw the pod open, pull out the bedding to use, and reportedly snack on the seeds inside too.

On the seeds. Rosewood say the seeds inside can be snacked on, but they don't give a nutritional breakdown or a recommended quantity — treat it as an occasional foraging activity rather than a dietary supplement.

Who it's for: owners of hamsters, mice or gerbils who want a natural boredom-breaker that doubles as bedding material, rather than a plastic toy with no further use once it's chewed.
