Specifications

Material: Mesh polyester

Full description

Air and a view are what keep an animal calm in a carrier. A solid plastic box with one grille at the front leaves a cat in the dark listening to a journey they cannot see, and a good many of them arrive at the vet in a worse state than they left home in. This one is mesh on every side, so air moves through it and there is a clear line of sight out in all directions.

The build is soft-sided, so it gives a little against a car seat or a lap rather than sitting rigid, and it zips open at more than one point, which means you can lower a reluctant cat in from the top instead of posting them in end-first. The top handle is padded, and that is the detail you notice about ten minutes into a walk to the surgery, when an unpadded strap has cut a line across your fingers.

Full mesh panels on all sides
Soft-sided construction
Zip openings for loading and quick access
Padded top carry handle
Approximately 50 x 48 x 49cm
Available in grey or beige

Two things worth knowing. Mesh sides are also not secure against a determined escape artist, and a soft carrier is not a crash-tested restraint in a car.

Who it's for: Cats and small dogs making short trips to the vet or groomer, where keeping them calm matters more than a rigid shell.

Why we chose it

Mesh on every side rather than one grille at the front, so a cat can see out instead of listening to a journey in the dark. It zips open at the top too, which beats posting them in end-first.
