The shavings are kiln dried, which Pillow Wad say kills bacteria and reduces moisture content before the bag is even opened, and they're sourced from well-managed forests. Nothing is added to mask smell - instead, the natural properties of the soft wood itself help control odour - and the shavings are dust extracted, which is aimed at protecting respiratory health for whichever small animal is bedded on it.
