A chew gets bought for two reasons and only one of them is the dog. The other is the quiet on the far side of it, which is why most people at the counter care more about how long a chew lasts than about what is actually in it.

This one is a single ingredient: NAW state the composition as 100% buffalo, and the analysis they print alongside it is protein 65%, fat 9%, fibre 1%, moisture 5% and ash 1%. The sticks are cut at 6" and sold by weight rather than by count, in a 500G bag. NAW describe the buffalo as free range, grass-fed and hormone free.

What the bag does not tell you. There is no piece count. A 500G bag of a natural product cut into 6" lengths will not hold the same number every time, so if you are buying for a set number of days you are estimating. There is no calorie figure published either, and at 65% protein and 9% fat this is food as well as entertainment — it counts against the day's meals. NAW mention omega-3 without giving a figure for it, so there is nothing there to compare against another chew.

Who it's for: dogs who get a chew most evenings and owners who would rather that chew had one thing in it than a list. Buffalo is also the sensible move for a dog that has had enough beef and pork.
