Rabbits and guinea pigs forage by smell and colour as much as taste, so a plain bale of hay sitting untouched in the corner of a hutch is a common enough sight that a flowered version of the same hay earns its place.

This is Canadian Timothy hay with marigold and blue cornflower added, at 96%, 2% and 2% respectively. Protein sits at 5.5%, fibre at 34.5%, oil at 1.6% and ash at 5.4%. It's sold as a complementary product rather than a complete diet, suitable for rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs and most other small animals and rodents, and can be fed daily.

On the 85% rule. As with any hay product, this is meant to make up part of an overall diet where hay accounts for at least 85% of what's eaten day to day — it's a contribution to that figure, not the whole answer to it on its own.

Who it's for: owners whose small pet has gone off plain hay and needs a bit of colour and scent to get interested again.
