A tray of actual pasture. Wild flowers, herbs and grasses grown as whole plants in loam soil, dried and set in a hay-coated edible tray so a rabbit can dig at the roots and graze the tops the way it would outdoors. It is the closest thing in this aisle to putting a piece of a field in a hutch.

The plants are named on the pack: dandelion, ribwort, daisies, red clover, common plantain, chamomile and chickweed, and the loam-and-whole-plants component is 79.7% of the composition. Meadow hay is 8.5%, starch 8%, cellulose fibre 3.5%, with a further 0.3% of added dandelion on top. The analytical constituents are protein 12.8%, fat content 2.8%, crude fibre 24.6% and crude ash 7.5%. That 24.6% crude fibre is by a distance the highest of anything Mr Johnson's put in this format, and it is what makes this one different from the snugs and tunnels.

It is grown in soil, and the soil is part of what you are buying. Loam is in the composition, deliberately, because the digging and the roots are the point: Mr Johnson's say it lets the animal get the minerals as it would in the wild. What it also means is that this is a messy product in a way a bag of dried herbs is not, and it will scatter earth around the enclosure. Worth knowing before you put it on a carpeted floor pen rather than in a litter tray or on a hard surface.
