A mixed bowl of different shapes and colours lets a chinchilla or degu pick out the bits it likes and leave the rest, which over time can mean it's not actually eating the balanced diet the bag promises. A single, uniform pellet removes that option entirely.

This is Mr Johnson's Supreme Chinchilla & Degu Pellet: a mono-component pellet, meaning every piece in the 900G bag is the same, so there's nothing to pick out and nothing left behind. It's made from wheatfeed, oatfeed, grassmeal, extracted sunflower, barley, soya, vegetable fat, limestone, salt and dicalcium phosphate, with a verm-x herb blend included for intestinal health. Protein is 17%, crude fibre 14.5%, crude oils and fats 4.4%, crude ash 7.6%, calcium 1.0%, sodium 0.18% and phosphorus 0.6%.

What we can't confirm. This mix contains wheatfeed, oatfeed and barley, so it isn't grain free, and no specific daily feeding amount is given for either species — chinchillas and degus are usually fed a measured amount rather than left with a full bowl, so check general guidance for your animal's size rather than relying on this pack alone.

Who it's for: chinchilla and degu owners who want a complete pellet where the animal can't sort through and skip the less appealing pieces.
