Full description

Ferrets are obligate carnivores with a shorter digestive tract than a dog or cat, which means a food built for them genuinely needs to differ from a repurposed cat kibble rather than simply being smaller kibble in a ferret-branded bag. This one is formulated specifically for that gut.

The recipe leads with poultry meat meal, followed by rice, poultry oil and maize, with fish meal and added taurine - the amino acid carnivores rely on from their diet. Protein is high at 39%, described as a superior complete food for ferrets.

Poultry meat meal, rice, poultry oil base
Crude protein 39%, crude oils and fats 19%, crude fibre 2%
Added taurine, per kg
Complete food for ferrets
2KG bag

What is not on this card. No specific taurine quantity is given here beyond it being listed as an additive per kilogram, and no feeding-by-weight guide is included on this card - check the pack itself for portion guidance specific to a ferret's size and age.

Who it's for: ferret owners wanting a food formulated specifically for a ferret's carnivorous digestion, rather than a repurposed cat or small-animal food.

Mr Johnson's Advance Ferret

Why we chose it

A ferret's digestion is different enough from a cat's that a purpose-built food matters, and a 39% protein figure with added taurine reflects that rather than treating a ferret as a small cat. It is also a straightforward complete food without unnecessary extras.
