Brand: Mason Cash

Full description

A lightweight bowl on a hard floor tends to travel across the kitchen the moment an enthusiastic eater gets going, which is really an argument for weight rather than size.

Mason Cash make this bowl from stoneware, which is heavier than the plastic or lightweight ceramic default and, per Mason Cash, chip and bite resistant as well as heavy enough not to tip during feeding. It's finished with an embossed bone design and comes in two colourways, cream and grey, both at 15cm.

What's not confirmed. We haven't been given a capacity in millilitres for this bowl, so if you're matching it to a specific portion size, check the product photos for scale against a known object rather than assuming from the 15cm measurement alone.

Who it's for: owners of an enthusiastic or messy eater who wants a bowl that stays put, and anyone who'd rather have stoneware than plastic in daily use.

Why we chose it

Weight is the whole reason to buy stoneware over a cheaper bowl, and this one is heavy enough to actually stop a determined eater pushing it round the floor. Mason Cash also state they make an annual donation to the RSPCA from bowl sales, which is a nice reason to pick this one over an unbranded equivalent at a similar price.
