Most dogs eat a bowl of food in under a minute, and mealtimes that fast leave nothing for a dog to actually do with its time — which is the whole case for spreading food onto something instead of dropping it in a bowl.

This is a slow-feeder lick mat in human-grade, food-safe TPR, with a criss-cross textured surface designed for spreading soft foods such as yoghurt, purées or wet food across it. LickiMat market lick mats like this as calming enrichment, saying the licking action can help reduce anxiety and boredom. It measures 20 x 20cm and can go in the freezer for a longer-lasting version, or the microwave to warm food through; it's also hand washable.

On the name. 'Coffee' here is the colour of the mat, not a flavour or scent added to it — LickiMat's card gives no ingredient or scent information at all, because the mat itself is not food. For a teething puppy or heavy chewer, LickiMat's own advice is to use their Keeper accessory alongside it rather than this mat on its own.

Who it's for: owners looking to slow down a fast eater or give a bored dog something to do with a meal, particularly with soft, spreadable food rather than dry kibble.
