Specifications

Brand: King British

Full description

A tank that looks clear can still be building up ammonia and nitrite faster than the fish in it can tolerate, which is why a lot of fish deaths happen in water that never looked cloudy.

King British's Filter Aid+ (formerly sold as Safe Water) is a blend of live bacteria intended to help remove harmful ammonia and nitrite from aquarium water, and to support the development of the biological filter itself. King British say it's suitable across tropical, coldwater and marine setups.

On dosing. King British haven't given us a dose per litre or a frequency for routine use on the source we hold, so treat the bottle's own instructions as the reference rather than anything on this page.

Who it's for: fishkeepers wanting an ongoing biological aid for water quality, across tropical, coldwater or marine tanks, rather than a one-off chemical fix.

Why we chose it

One product that works across tropical, coldwater and marine setups is simpler to stock and recommend than three separate treatments, which is the practical case for it. It's also aimed at the biological filter itself rather than just masking a water quality problem after the fact.
