Specifications

Brand: King British

Full description

A planted tank does a surprising amount of the water-quality work for you, but only if the plants themselves are actually growing rather than just sitting there.

This is a liquid aquatic plant food formulated without nitrate or phosphate, so it isn't feeding the algae growth that both of those tend to encourage. It's aimed at supporting live plant growth directly rather than feeding fish, sold in a 100ML bottle.

What's not on this card. No dosage or dosing frequency is supplied for this bottle — a liquid plant food is usually dosed by tank volume, so check King British's own bottle for the exact rate rather than guessing, particularly in a smaller tank where overdosing anything is easier to do.

Who it's for: keepers of a planted aquarium who want to support plant growth directly, rather than relying on fish waste and light alone.

King British Aquatic Plant Food

Why we chose it

No nitrate or phosphate in the formula is the actual reason to pick a dedicated plant food over just letting fish waste feed the tank — those are exactly what encourage algae instead. 100ML is a sensible size to start with in a single planted tank.
