Full description

A hen cannot chew, so anything it swallows whole gets ground down in the gizzard instead - which only works if there is some grit in there to do the grinding. Jondo's mixed grit covers both jobs a keeper needs from grit in one bag rather than two separate products.

It combines a soluble grit - oyster shell and seashells, plus limestone - with an insoluble grit of flint, all graded to 4-7mm. The insoluble flint does the mechanical grinding work in the gizzard, helping birds digest their food fully, while the soluble calcium grit dissolves in the digestive system, supporting the production of strong-shelled eggs.
