The composition is seeds, nuts, cereals, vegetables and honey. No percentages are given against any of them, so the order is the only clue to proportion and seeds and nuts lead it. The pack carries Johnson's own note in capitals: this product is a complementary treat and should only be given occasionally, and must not replace the normal balanced diet. It is a 70g pack.

Seeds, nuts and honey are the three things a rabbit's diet is least designed for. A rabbit runs on fibre, and this is an energy dense treat at the other end of the scale, which is exactly why Johnson's print the occasional-feeding warning themselves. With no analytical panel there is no fat or sugar figure to check that against, so the restraint has to come from you. Hay first, always, and this as a small thing on top of it.

Who it's for: Rabbit and guinea pig keepers who want something to hand over by hand now and then, and who already have the hay side of the diet right.

Why we chose it
