Coat condition is one of the easiest things to let slide when a dog is otherwise healthy — a slightly dry, dull coat doesn't look like a problem until you compare it to how it looked a few months ago.

This is a 5 litre trade-size shampoo built with aloe vera and vitamin extracts, which Johnson's say moisturises, soothes and conditions both skin and coat. It's part of Johnson's professional shampoo range, sold in bulk rather than as a small bottle, and suitable for all breeds.

• 5 litre bottle
• Contains aloe vera and vitamin extracts
• Moisturises, soothes and conditions skin and coat
• Suitable for all breeds

On what this shampoo isn't. This is a general conditioning shampoo rather than a treatment for a diagnosed skin problem — Johnson's don't give a percentage of aloe vera or a species restriction beyond "all breeds", so persistent dryness, flaking or irritation is worth raising with a vet rather than solving through washing alone.

Who it's for: owners or groomers washing dogs regularly enough that a 5 litre bottle makes sense, who want a general conditioning wash rather than one aimed at a specific complaint like fleas or scurf.
