Fat balls disappear fastest in winter, when garden birds need the calories most, and a feeder that lets debris pile up underneath it just makes more mess to clear before the next refill.

It is a compact version of Henry Bell's Heavy Duty range, made of aluminium and finished in black. The all-in-one base gives birds more room to perch while feeding and is designed to help collect food debris rather than let it drop straight onto the ground, and Henry Bell say it is easy to clean and refill.

• Compact version of the Heavy Duty range
• Aluminium construction, black finish
• All-in-one base with wider perch space
• Helps collect food debris rather than dropping it
• Holds fat balls

What's missing here. No capacity, dimensions or weight are supplied for this feeder, so we can't say how it compares in size to the full Heavy Duty range beyond Henry Bell calling it "compact". Buy by the description rather than an exact measurement.

Who it's for: garden bird feeders wanting a smaller, tidier aluminium feeder than the full Heavy Duty range, without giving up the wider perch base.
