Glitter on a Christmas decoration usually has a short and messy life. It is glued to the surface, it sheds onto the carpet the first time somebody knocks the tree, and by the third year the ornament looks bald in patches. These are made differently: the glitter is fused into the acrylic itself, so what sparkles is the material rather than a coating sitting on top of it, and there is nothing to shed.

Each one is cut by hand by UK craftsman Terry Quinn, in three poses so you can pick the cat that actually looks like yours, sitting, walking or playing. They come in two sizes, 74mm and 93mm, and in silver glitter, silver mirror, gold glitter or gold mirror. Lightweight acrylic is the sensible material for a tree with a cat in the house, since it takes a fall from a branch without the shattered mess a glass bauble leaves behind.
