Each of these geometric cats is laser-cut and assembled by its maker, Terry Quinn, and part of what you pay goes to Guide Dogs for the Blind, the charity that matched Terry with his own guide dog, Spencer. That connection is the reason the range exists, and it is a better story than most things hanging on a tree.

The material is lightweight acrylic, which the maker rates at over ten times the strength of glass. Whether or not you take that multiple at face value, the practical effect is real enough: it will not shatter when a cat gets among the lower branches at half past six in the morning, and it is light enough that a thin branch holds it without bending. The faceted shape catches light from more angles than a flat cut-out.
