Full description

A rabbit's gut is built to process fibre almost constantly, which is why the forage matters as much as anything else in the bowl.

This one is made purely from dried alfalfa forage. Protein comes out at 16%, fibre at 32%, oils at 4% and calcium at 1.2%. It can be fed freely, offered alone or blended with hay for pregnant, nursing or young animals, and as an occasional treat for mature adults, with fresh water always available alongside it.

Dried alfalfa forage, single ingredient
Protein 16%, fibre 32%, oils 4%, calcium 1.2%
Can be fed alone or blended with hay
Suited to pregnant, nursing and young animals as a regular feed
An occasional treat for mature adults rather than a daily one
1KG bag

Not an everyday food for every animal. Alfalfa's calcium level (1.2%) is higher than grass hay, which is why it's aimed at pregnant, nursing and growing animals rather than every mature adult daily. It's marked as an occasional treat once an animal is grown, not a hay replacement for a fully mature rabbit or guinea pig.

Who it's for: owners of pregnant, nursing or young rabbits, guinea pigs and similar small animals wanting a higher-protein forage, and owners of mature animals wanting an occasional higher-calcium treat rather than a daily feed.

Why we chose it

Alfalfa's higher protein and calcium is exactly what a nursing or growing animal needs and a mature one does not, so the honest use case is narrower than 'good for all small animals'. We'd rather say that plainly than sell it as an everyday hay substitute it isn't meant to be.
