Fleas rarely stay confined to the animal that brought them in — carpets, sofas and skirting boards are where the next few generations actually hatch, which is why a flea plan that only treats the pet often stalls.

Fleatec House Flea Spray is a household spray for treating the home environment rather than the animal directly, available in two sizes. The makers have not supplied us with an active ingredient, application rate or duration of protection for this product beyond the category it sits in.

• Household flea spray, not for direct use on pets
• Available in more than one bottle size, including 300ml
• Falls under our home flea-control range

Where the detail runs out. the makers have not given us an active ingredient, an application method or how long protection is meant to last for this spray, so please read the manufacturer's own directions and any safety warnings printed on the bottle in full before using it, and keep pets away from a treated area until it's had time to dry or air as the label instructs.

Who it's for: owners treating carpets, upholstery or bedding as part of a wider flea plan, choosing the bottle size that suits the area they need to cover.
