A flea problem that looks solved after treating the cat or dog often isn't, because eggs and larvae already dropped into the carpet and bedding keep hatching for weeks afterwards.

Johnson's House Flea Spray Extra Guard is a household aerosol for carpets, upholstery and pet bedding — for the home environment, not for direct use on pets. It uses a dual-action formula: it's described as killing adult fleas, larvae and other crawling insects on contact, and includes an insect growth regulator (IGR) aimed at stopping flea eggs hatching into biting adults. Johnson's describe protection lasting up to 6 months. It's a 250ml aerosol.

On safety. This is explicitly a household product — Johnson's own safety line says it is not suitable for use directly on pets, so it's for the carpets, sofas and bedding around them rather than the animal itself, and pets and people should be kept out of the room while spraying and until it's had time to settle, per the label.

Who it's for: owners tackling a flea problem in the home as well as on the pet, wanting long-lasting cover for carpets and soft furnishings rather than a spot treatment.
