Carrying a cat in a shoulder bag is fine for the ten minutes to the car and miserable for anything longer. The weight swings, the strap digs in, and a frightened animal shifting about inside makes both worse. Putting the same box on wheels changes the journey completely: this one has a retractable handle and rolls along behind you, so a long walk through a station concourse costs your arms nothing at all.

The body detaches from the wheeled base, which is the detail that makes it liveable at home, because the carrier on its own can be left out in the living room with a blanket in it while the trolley part goes in a cupboard. Mesh panels run around the sides for airflow and so your pet can see where they are going, and the closures fasten securely so nothing gets nosed open halfway through. Both parts wipe down separately after a wet platform.

• Retractable trolley handle on rolling wheels
• Body detaches from the wheeled base
• Mesh ventilation panels around the sides
• Secure closures
• Available in pink or grey

On sizing, and we mean this. What decides the fit is body length from chest to tail base, not weight, and your pet must be able to stand, turn round and lie flat inside. Any carrier also works far better if it lives open at home for a fortnight first, so it is not a box that only ever appears on vet day.

Who it's for: Owners without a car who do vet trips, holidays and stations on foot, and would rather wheel a nervous cat than carry one.
