Full description
Getting a toothbrush anywhere near a cat or dog's mouth for the first time usually goes better with the right shape of brush than the right paste, which is why most starter kits bundle the two rather than selling either alone.
This Dentifresh kit contains a toothpaste and a soft finger toothbrush, in a meat flavour, for dogs and cats. The formula is non-enzymatic, which Dentifresh say makes it suitable for frequent use, and it's made in GB.

What is left unsaid. Dentifresh don't give us a recommended brushing frequency beyond "suitable for frequent use", or a tube size, on this card. Start gently with a finger brush your pet hasn't met before, and stop and check with a vet if you notice bleeding gums or resistance that doesn't ease with time.
Who it's for: owners introducing tooth brushing for the first time, for either a dog or a cat.

Why we chose it
A finger brush is the easier starting point than a handled toothbrush for an animal that's never had its teeth touched before, which is why this kit earns its place as a first buy. Meat flavour also does a lot of the work of getting a fussy mouth to tolerate the whole process.
