A guinea pig or hamster earns most of its excitement in short bursts, and a treat stick handed through the bars is one of the few moments in the day built entirely around them.

These are baked from wheat flour with egg, added oils and fats and yeast, coloured with EEC permitted colourants for the stripe down the stick, rather than built around a named meat, fruit or vegetable. It's a plain baked treat rather than a flavoured or fortified one.

• Made from wheat flour, egg, oils and fats and yeast
• Coloured with EEC permitted colourants
• Protein 14.3%, oils and fats 5.6%
• Crude fibre 0.4%, crude ash 0.91%
• Classed as a complementary treat, not a diet on its own
• 75G pack

What the label does not say. Critter's Choice don't publish how many sticks come in the 75G pack, and the ingredient list doesn't name a headline flavour or filling — this is a plain baked stick rather than a fruit- or vegetable-led treat, so don't expect a specific taste beyond the base bake.

Who it's for: owners of hamsters, gerbils, mice and other small pets who want an occasional baked treat rather than a dried-fruit or vegetable snack.
