Not every small pet treat needs a fruit or a flavour behind it to earn its place in the cupboard — sometimes a plain, crunchy loop is exactly what gets a hand-feeding session going.

Critter's Choice Loopy Loops are made from wheat, barley, maize, wheat bran and EEC permitted colourants — there is no named fruit, herb or other flavouring in the composition at all. Nutritionally they come out at protein 12.8%, oils and fat 4.3%, fibre 11.5% and ash 5.7%. The manufacturer's guide is up to 6 drops a day.

On the ingredients: there is nothing flavour-named in this recipe at all — just wheat, barley, maize, wheat bran and colourants. The appeal here is texture and colour rather than any particular taste, which is worth knowing if you were expecting a fruit or herb note.

Who it's for: owners after a plain, crunchy cereal treat for hand-feeding and bonding, without a fruit or added-sugar flavour behind it.
