"Fruity" on the front of a bag suggests real fruit somewhere in the mix, and it's worth being precise about what that word is actually doing here, because a guinea pig owner checking for hidden sugar deserves an accurate answer rather than a marketing impression.

The composition itself is wheat, wheat feed, soya bean hulls, oatfeed and dried lucerne — no fruit ingredient appears anywhere in it. The only reference to fruit is a "Fruity Flavour" additive at 300mg/kg, alongside vitamin C at 1050mg/kg and the standard trace element package.

• "Fruity" refers to a 300mg/kg flavouring additive, not a fruit ingredient — none appears in the composition
• Crude protein 12%, crude fat 3.5%, crude fibre 16%, crude ash 6%
• Calcium 0.8%, phosphorus 0.5%, sodium 0.21%
• Vitamin C added at 1050mg/kg
• Complementary food, fed alongside hay and fresh water
• 10KG bag

A word on the name. Despite the name, there is no actual fruit in this recipe — "Fruity" is a 300mg/kg flavouring additive, and the composition is entirely cereal-based (wheat, wheat feed, soya hulls, oatfeed, lucerne). If you're looking for a nugget containing real dried fruit pieces, this isn't it.

Who it's for: owners of a guinea pig that responds well to a flavoured food, and anyone buying in bulk for multiple guinea pigs who wants a straightforward complementary nugget at 10kg rather than a smaller bag.
