The four-way dial is the whole point of a flap like this. In-only is what you set at teatime so the cat can come home but not go out again, out-only empties the house before you lock up, and fully locked keeps everyone in on bonfire night or after surgery. Without that control a flap is simply a permanently open hole in your back door, and most of the arguments about cat flaps come down to exactly that.

The flap itself is clear, which matters more than it sounds. A cat who can see what is on the other side learns the flap far quicker than one pushing blindly at an opaque panel. It is draught-sealed around the edge, so it sits back against the frame rather than rattling in the wind and letting cold air through, and it can be fitted into a door or through a wall. The opening measures 15cm.
