Full description
Small animals spend a surprising amount of the day hiding rather than being watched, and a cage without a proper retreat leaves them with nowhere to do it except a corner of bedding that offers no real cover.
This is a corner hideaway built from natural fir wood, chosen for being gnaw-resistant as well as chewable in the way small animals expect wood furniture to be. It measures 21.8 x 30.5 x 13.4cm (length x width x height), sized to sit in a cage corner rather than take up open floor space.
- 21.8 x 30.5 x 13.4cm (L x W x H)
- Natural fir wood construction
- Gnaw-resistant
- Corner-shaped to fit against cage walls
What isn't specified. No weight, finish (varnished or untreated) or which specific small animals it's rated for is given beyond "small animal", so if you're buying for a particular species it's worth checking the dimensions against what you already have rather than assuming a universal fit.
Who it's for: owners of hamsters, gerbils and similar small animals who want a wooden retreat with some structure to it, rather than just a cardboard box in the corner.

Why we chose it
Fir is a sensible, unfussy wood for this kind of thing and gnaw-resistant means it lasts rather than becoming next week's chew toy by accident. The corner shape is also the practical bit — it uses space a round or square hide would waste.
