Full description

A nugget sized for a rabbit is a mouthful for a mouse, and getting that size right matters more than most owners think about when choosing a small-animal food.

It's built from wheat, barley, wheat feed, peas (9%) and linseed (4%), with grass, soya oil, pea protein, brewer's yeast and minerals, all formed into small nuggets rather than the larger pieces some ranges use across every species. Burgess build their small-animal range around this same cereal-and-legume base, adjusting the nugget size for the species it's aimed at rather than changing the recipe itself.

Peas 9%, linseed 4%
Protein 15%, fat 7.5%, crude fibre 4.5%, crude ash 5.5%
Small nuggets, sized for little mouths
Complete food
750G bag

What's not on this card. Burgess don't give an exact nugget size or count per bag — "small nuggets designed for little mouths" is the description given, without a measurement behind it. It's a small distinction, but one that matters more to a mouse than it would to a rabbit trying the same bag of food.

Who it's for: owners of hamsters, gerbils and mice wanting a correctly-sized complete nugget food rather than one designed for larger small animals.

Why we chose it

Sizing a nugget for a mouse rather than a rabbit sounds obvious until you've watched a mouse struggle with the wrong one. It's a straightforward complete food that gets that basic detail right.
