Rabbits fed mostly on nuggets instead of hay are one of the more common ways a well-meaning owner gets their rabbit's diet wrong, because a bag of nuggets looks like a complete answer sitting on a shelf.

The base is a Grass Meal Blend at 23.5%, with oatfeed, wheat, soya bean hulls, dried peas, yeast and dried lucerne, plus small additions of prebiotic FOS at 0.25% and dried nettle, lemon balm and dandelion at 0.2% each.

On how this fits into the diet. This is sold here as a complete food for adult rabbits, but Burgess' own feeding guidance still puts hay or grass as the majority of the diet, with only a small portion of nuggets alongside it — not the other way round. Treat the bag as a supplement to a rabbit's hay intake, not the main event, whatever 'complete' suggests on its own.

Who it's for: owners of an adult rabbit, from 4 months up to around 5 years old, who already feed hay as the bulk of the diet and want a nugget food alongside it.
