Full description

A hay-based treat only works if the animal actually forages through it rather than picking out the tastiest bit and leaving the rest, and mixing in dried flowers is one way to make the whole bar worth digging through.

The base is meadow hay at 73.3%, with rose blossom petals making up 5.5%, alongside oat flakes, wheat flakes, pea flakes, carrot and a run of herbs including lemon balm, peppermint and echinacea.

Meadow hay 73.3%, rose blossom petals 5.5%
Protein 10.9%, Fat 2.4%, Fibre 29.5%, Ash 5.9%
60G bar
Suitable for rabbits, guinea pigs and chinchillas
Mixed with feeding hay to encourage foraging, per Burgess' guidance

On feeding it as a treat. This sits alongside a hay-based staple diet rather than replacing one — Burgess' own instruction is to mix bars in with feeding hay and feed in moderation, so the fibre figure here is not a substitute for a rabbit's main hay intake.

Who it's for: owners of rabbits, guinea pigs or chinchillas wanting to encourage foraging behaviour with an occasional treat rather than a daily one.

Why we chose it

Rose petals give this bar its own identity within the range, sitting on the same fibre-rich hay base as the rest. At 60G it's sized as an occasional extra rather than a bulk feeding hay replacement.
