A guinea pig that is allowed to pick through a mixed bowl will usually pick the same handful of pieces every time and leave the rest, which is how selective feeding quietly turns a balanced diet into an unbalanced one. A single-shape nugget removes the choice: whatever is in the bowl is what gets eaten.

Burgess build this one from grass meal, wholegrain wheat, dried lucerne and wholegrain maize, with a small amount of dried blackcurrant (0.1%) and dried oregano (0.06%) added for flavour rather than nutrition. It sits at 15% crude fibre, which is a genuinely high figure for a guinea pig food and reflects a diet built around grass and hay rather than concentrate.
