Full description

Salmon on a cat-food bag does not mean salmon is the entire fish content. The useful distinction here is that the label separates salmon from the other fish meal and states the share of each.

Burgess Adult Cat Salmon is complete dry food for adult cats. Fish makes up 22%, divided into salmon at 14% and fish meal at 8%. Wholegrain maize, rice and wholegrain wheat follow, alongside poultry meal and poultry fat. The declared analysis is crude protein 29%, crude fat 12%, crude fibre 2% and crude ash 7.5%. Short chain fructo-oligosaccharides are listed at 0.3%. The family comes in several bag sizes.

What salmon means here. Salmon is 14% of the recipe, and the wider composition also contains poultry meal and poultry fat. That is useful to know if the animal's food choice depends on more than the named flavour. Burgess advises a gradual change over 7-10 days, with weight monitored, treats counted and fresh, clean water supplied.

Who it's for: adult-cat owners looking for a complete salmon-led dry food and wanting several pack options without losing sight of the other fish, poultry and grain ingredients.

Burgess Adult Cat Salmon

Why we chose it

The 22% fish declaration is broken down clearly enough to show that salmon accounts for 14%. That transparency, together with the complete-food status, is why I would give this recipe shelf space.
