Full description

Pumpkin is the piece of dog-owner folklore that gets passed around more than any other, usually in a car park, always with total confidence. What nobody actually has is a tin of it in the cupboard on the day it would have been useful, and half a tin left over afterwards going furry in the fridge.

A powder solves both halves of that. This is 100% pumpkin powder in a 200g tub with nothing else declared in it, which means the label is one line long and there is nothing to check. Bugalugs' instruction is to sprinkle the desired amount over the top of your dog's food, or to mix it with water into a paste, and not to exceed the daily amount. It is described as rich in fibre and as carrying naturally occurring vitamins. Store it somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight, and make sure fresh drinking water is always available.

200g tub of 100% pumpkin powder, nothing else declared
Sprinkle over food, or mix with water to form a paste
Bugalugs say not to exceed the daily amount
Not to be used on pregnant or lactating animals
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
For animal consumption only; keep out of reach of children

The daily amount you are told not to exceed is not printed anywhere we were sent. Bugalugs say sprinkle the desired amount and do not exceed the daily amount, and neither of those is a quantity — so read the tub itself, and if you are reaching for this because something is genuinely wrong at the back end, that is a question for your vet rather than for a shelf. They are clear it should not be used on pregnant or lactating animals. Worth flagging one more thing: the description we were given talks throughout about dogs while the maker's own category data files it under cats, and no cat instruction reached us at all — so treat it as a dog product unless the tub in your hand says otherwise.

Who it's for: owners of a dog with an unreliable digestion, and anyone who has been advised to get more fibre into a dog and would rather do it with one ingredient than with a supplement blend.

Common questions

What is in it?

100% pumpkin powder. Bugalugs declare nothing else.

How do I give it?

Sprinkle the amount you want over the top of your dog's food, or mix it with water to form a paste. Bugalugs also say not to exceed the daily amount.

How much should a dog have in a day?

No figure was supplied to us — Bugalugs refer to a daily amount without printing one in anything we hold. Read the tub, and ask your vet if there is a digestive problem behind the question.

Can I use it on a pregnant dog?

No. Bugalugs state it should not be used on pregnant or lactating animals.

How should it be stored?

In a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and out of reach of children.

How long does delivery take?

Your estimated delivery date is shown above and updates automatically. UK orders are sent tracked — standard delivery is £2.99, and free on orders over £39.

How do I track my order?

As soon as your order is dispatched we email you a tracking link, so you can follow it all the way to your door.

What if I need to return my order?

You have 14 days from delivery to change your mind (food, treats and frozen items have a shorter window). Just email us with your order number and we’ll send the return steps the same working day — see our delivery & returns page for details.

Why we chose it

One ingredient means you can read the whole label, and 100% pumpkin powder is the whole label. Powder is the practical form to keep — a tin of pumpkin is useless three days after opening and a tub of this is not. At 200g it lasts a long time at a sprinkle, which makes it a cupboard item rather than a purchase you make in a hurry.
