Specifications

Brand: Bucktons

Full description

A mix sold on its name alone can be easy to take at face value, which is exactly why it's worth checking the description against the label rather than assuming the two say the same thing.

This is Bucktons' High Protein Economy mix, built from wheat, whole maize, tic beans, maple peas, blue peas and tares. Bucktons' own description calls it a resting mix suitable for all-year-round use — "a popular mixture for general purpose" and a balanced, economical formulation — rather than emphasising a specific protein figure to back up the name.

Wheat, whole maize, tic beans, maple peas, blue peas and tares
Suitable for all-year-round feeding
Described by the maker as a general-purpose, economical mixture
20KG sack

On the name. This is called "High Protein Economy," but Bucktons' own description positions it as a general-purpose resting mix rather than a specialist high-protein feed, and no protein percentage is published on the card to check the name against. If protein content specifically is what you're after, this card doesn't give you a figure to confirm it.

Who it's for: pigeon keepers wanting one reliable, economical mix to feed all year round, rather than switching between a summer and winter formulation.

Can I feed this all year round?

Yes, Bucktons describe it as suitable for all-year-round use.

Is it actually higher in protein than other Bucktons mixes?

Bucktons describe it as a resting mix for general-purpose, all-year feeding rather than a dedicated racing formula.

Bucktons Pigeons High Protein Economy

Why we chose it

An all-year mix means one less bag to keep in rotation for anyone who doesn't want to manage separate winter and summer feeds. It's priced as an economy option, which is honest about what it is rather than dressed up as a premium racing formula.
