Racing pigeon keepers often have strong, specific opinions about feed - what draws birds back to the loft matters as much as what is in the bowl - and a strong aniseed aroma is a well-known way to make a mix more attractive to returning birds, which is exactly why this one has earned an informal nickname among keepers.

The composition is wheat, red and white dari, naked oats, linseed, safflower seed, mung beans, white rice, black rapeseed, buckwheat and aniseed oil. Bucktons describe it as suitable for feeding all year round, and it is not a grain-free mix - wheat and oats both feature as named ingredients. The strong aniseed note is what has given it the nickname "Trapping Mix" among pigeon keepers.

• Composition: wheat, red and white dari, naked oats, linseed, safflower seed, mung beans, white rice, black rapeseed, buckwheat, aniseed oil
• Contains aniseed oil for aroma
• Suitable for feeding all year round
• Not grain free
• 20kg bag

On what's missing. No protein, fat or fibre analysis is published for this mix on the card, so if you are balancing it precisely against another feed or a supplement regime, that figure is not available here - only the ingredient list itself.

Who it's for: pigeon keepers, particularly those racing or training birds, who want an all-year feed with the aniseed aroma known to help encourage birds back to the loft.
