A hutch or cage looks clean long before it is clean, because the smell and the mess are the two things an owner notices and bacteria are not. Small animals live close to their bedding in a way a dog or cat does not, which is why a proper disinfectant matters more here than it might in a house with a carpet to hoover.

Beaphar's Deep Clean Cage & Hutch Disinfectant Spray is a deep-cleaning spray that Beaphar say kills 99.9% of bacteria, with long-lasting protection named against several specific pathogens including Enterococcus hirae, Proteus hauseri, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus, plus viruses including coronavirus, calicivirus and influenza A. It is intended for both plastic cages and timber hutches, and can also be used on equipment such as bowls, water bottles and toys.

• 750ml spray bottle
• Beaphar say it kills 99.9% of bacteria
• Named against Enterococcus hirae, Proteus hauseri, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus and several viruses
• For plastic cages, timber hutches, bowls, water bottles and toys
• For rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, hamsters and other rodents

Important. This is a surface disinfectant for the cage and its contents, not something to spray directly on an animal - the product itself carries a "do not use on animals" instruction. Rinse anything an animal will eat or drink from before putting it back, and keep animals out of the enclosure until the spray has dried.

Who it's for: owners doing a proper deep clean of a hutch or cage rather than a daily wipe-round, particularly after illness or when bringing a new animal in.
