Full description

Degus are prone to diabetes if their diet runs too sugary, which is why a food built around fibre rather than dried fruit pieces matters more for them than it does for most small pets.

Beaphar Care+ Degu is a complete, single-pellet food — no loose mixed pieces to pick through — with 19% crude fibre, built around cereals and vegetable by-products including Yucca schidigera (0.1%), echinacea (0.03%) and spirulina (0.01%).

On feeding. Beaphar's own guide splits by the degu's weight rather than giving one fixed amount: up to 13g a day for a degu under 170g, and 13-18g a day for one between 170g and 300g. Weigh your degu rather than guessing, since degus can sit either side of that range.

Who it's for: degu owners wanting a single, complete pellet rather than a muesli-style mix a degu can pick through and eat selectively.

Beaphar Care+ Degu Food

Why we chose it

Every pellet is the same composition, so there's nothing for a degu to sort through and leave behind, which matters more with degus than most small pets given how prone they are to weight problems. A 19% fibre level is also higher than a lot of small-animal foods, which fits what degus actually need.
