Collars are sized by the neck girth — the measurement around the base of the neck where the collar will sit.
How to measure
- Wrap a soft tape around the base of the neck.
- Add room for two fingers between the tape and the neck.
- Use that measurement to pick a size whose range it falls within.

In a house with more than one dog, telling collars apart at a glance from across a garden or a busy vet waiting room saves more arguments than it sounds like it should. A distinctive print does that job better than a plain colour, which most dogs on a lead already share with at least one other dog nearby.
This is Ancol's Fashion Collar in a bone and paw design, printed onto a nylon base and fastened with a snap buckle rather than a traditional tongue-and-hole buckle. It is adjustable within its size band and, like the rest of the range, is made in three sizes: 20-30cm, 30-50cm and 45-70cm neck.

As with the rest of this range, Ancol only give three neck bands rather than a continuous scale, so a dog sitting near the edge of a band needs an actual tape measure rather than a guess based on breed or age. Check the fit regularly, since a collar that fit at eight months may not fit at twelve.
