Mix Meat as a product name promises variety rather than a single named animal, and the ingredient panel here genuinely delivers on that — beef, poultry and salmon all appear rather than one meat carrying the label.

This dry food is built on whole wheat and meat and bone meal (10% beef), with soya bean meal, whole peas (10%), poultry oil, poultry meal (4%), salmon meal, poultry digest and yucca schidigera extract further down the list. It analyses at 29% protein, 9% fat, 2.5% crude fibre and 10% crude ash, with taurine and a standard vitamin and mineral pack added.

• Meat and bone meal with 10% beef, plus 4% poultry meal and salmon meal
• Whole peas at 10% of the recipe
• Protein 29%, fat 9%, crude fibre 2.5%, crude ash 10%
• Taurine added at 500mg/kg
• Soya bean meal is produced from genetically modified soya
• 10kg bag

On the soya. The manufacturer states plainly that the soya bean meal in this recipe is produced from genetically modified soya — most cat foods don't name their soya source this explicitly, so it's worth knowing if that matters to you, even though it's a legal and common ingredient in the category. Introduce any new food over about 10 days, per the manufacturer's own guidance, rather than swapping overnight.

Who it's for: owners feeding a household on a budget who still want more than one named meat source in the bag, and who are feeding on the standard weight-based schedule rather than a specialist diet.
