Dry dog food, delivered

Every bag of dry dog food on this site is delivered across the UK along with the rest of your order, with the delivery cost and any current threshold shown clearly at checkout before you pay, so there is nothing to work out in advance. What actually varies more between bags than delivery is the real cost once you compare like for like, which is where most owners overpay without realising it.

Cost per kilogram beats the price on the bag

A 12kg bag at one price and a 15kg bag at a higher price are not directly comparable until you divide each by its weight, and the difference can be larger than it looks, especially between own-brand and premium ranges where bag sizes are rarely matched exactly.

It is worth doing that sum before deciding a food is expensive or cheap purely from the shelf price, since a smaller bag of a denser, more calorie-rich food can genuinely work out similar in cost per day to a larger bag of a less concentrated one, once you account for how much your dog actually needs to eat of each.

Cost per portion matters more than cost per kilogram

A more calorie-dense food means smaller daily portions, which changes the real comparison again. Two bags priced identically per kilogram can still cost noticeably different amounts per day to actually feed, because a dog eats less by weight of the denser food to get the same energy.

We are not going to claim any single range here is the cheapest way to feed a dog, because that genuinely depends on your dog's size, activity level and which specific foods you are comparing. The honest approach is to check the feeding guide on the bag against your dog's current weight, then divide the bag price by how many days it will actually last.

Buying in a larger bag to reduce delivery trips

If you feed a dog that gets through a bag quickly, buying the largest bag size that still fits your storage and use-by timeline usually works out more efficient than repeat smaller orders, both on a cost-per-kilogram basis and in terms of how often you need to reorder.

Store an opened bag somewhere cool and dry, ideally in an airtight container once opened, since dry food does lose some freshness over weeks once exposed to air, however well the bag itself is sealed.

Common questions

How is dry dog food delivered?
It ships with the rest of your order across the UK, packed to avoid the bag splitting in transit. Delivery cost and any current free-delivery threshold are shown at checkout before you complete your order, so there are no surprises.
Is a bigger bag of dry food always cheaper per kilogram?
Usually, but not always, and it is worth checking rather than assuming. Compare the total price divided by the bag weight across a couple of sizes of the same product before deciding a larger bag is automatically better value.
How do I compare cost between two different dry food brands?
Divide the total price by the bag weight to get cost per kilogram, then check the feeding guide against your dog's weight to work out daily grams needed, since a denser food needs smaller portions. That gives a genuine cost-per-day comparison rather than just comparing shelf prices.
Does dry food go off once the bag is opened?
It loses some freshness over time once exposed to air, even in a resealed bag, so storing it in a cool, dry, airtight container and using it within the guidance on the pack keeps it in better condition for longer.
