Dry dog food offers

We should be upfront: we don't currently run seasonal discount codes or blanket promotions on dry dog food, so this isn't a page pointing you to a voucher. What we can do is show you how to judge real value properly — because the cheapest bag on the shelf and the best value bag aren't always the same thing once you work out the actual cost per meal.

Why the bag price alone is misleading

A cheaper bag with a lower meat content and more cereal filler is often fed at a higher daily quantity to meet a dog's needs, because there's less nutritional density per scoop. That can close the gap with a pricier, more concentrated food, or even close it entirely, once you compare cost per day rather than cost per bag.

Working out price per kilogram is a fairer starting comparison than price per bag, especially across different pack sizes, but the feeding guide on each specific food — how much it recommends for your dog's weight — is what actually tells you the daily cost.

Where genuine value comes from

Buying a larger bag size is usually cheaper per kilogram than buying several smaller ones of the same food, provided you can store it properly and use it before the best-before date — an opened bag that goes stale before it's finished isn't good value regardless of the price paid.

Choosing the right food for your dog's actual size and activity level also avoids overfeeding, which wastes money on food your dog didn't need in the first place. A food matched properly to your dog, fed at the right amount, is often better value than a cheaper food fed generously to compensate.

What we'd say instead of chasing an offer

Compare a small number of complete foods that suit your dog's size, age and any known sensitivities, work out the actual cost per day for each using the feeding guide, and choose based on that rather than which one happens to be discounted this week. It takes a few extra minutes and gives you a genuinely comparable answer.

If cost is the main driver, it's also worth reviewing your dog's actual portion size against their current weight rather than assuming it's fixed — an overweight dog on a slightly reduced, correctly portioned amount of the same food saves money and is often better for their health, which is a more useful lever than switching brands to chase a lower price.

Common questions

Does Giddy Pets run discount codes on dog food?
Not currently — we don't run seasonal voucher codes or blanket promotions. Our focus is on being upfront about pricing so you can judge value for yourself rather than chasing a discount.
Is a bigger bag of dog food always better value?
Usually cheaper per kilogram, yes, provided you can store it properly and get through it before it goes stale. If a smaller bag suits your storage or your dog gets through food slowly, the larger size isn't automatically the right choice for you.
How do I compare the real cost of two different dog foods?
Check the feeding guide on each food for your dog's weight, work out roughly how many days a bag would last at that amount, then divide the bag price by that number of days. That gives you a genuine cost-per-day comparison rather than just comparing bag prices.
Does cheaper dog food mean lower quality?
Generally, cheaper foods tend to use less meat and more cereal filler, but that doesn't automatically make them unsuitable for every dog. It comes down to whether the specific food meets your dog's nutritional needs, not the price point alone.
