Sheba senior cat food

Sheba does not currently produce a range labelled specifically for senior cats. Its wet food range is built around adult cats generally, in a variety of textures and sauces, and many owners of older cats choose from the wider range based on texture and appetite rather than a dedicated senior label.

Why there's no dedicated Sheba senior range

Some brands split their range by life stage, with separate kitten, adult and senior lines, while others, Sheba among them, build their wet food around adult cats broadly and vary by flavour, texture and format rather than age band. Both approaches are common across the wet cat food market.

For an older cat, what often matters more than an age label is texture and ease of eating, particularly for a cat with dental changes or a reduced appetite, both of which become more common with age.

What to look at instead of the age label

Sheba's range includes fine flakes, pâté-style terrines, and softer sauce and jelly formats, and an older cat who finds chunkier textures harder to manage may do better on a smoother pâté or fine flake option than on a mixed chunk style.

If your older cat has a diagnosed health condition, or has lost interest in food generally, that is worth discussing with your vet, who can advise on whether a specific therapeutic or age-formulated diet would suit them better than a general adult range.

Common questions

Does Sheba make a senior cat food?
Not as a dedicated, separately labelled range. Sheba's wet food range is built around adult cats generally, varying by flavour and texture, so owners of older cats typically choose from the wider range rather than a specific senior line.
What Sheba texture suits an older cat best?
A smoother pâté-style or fine flake option is often easier for an older cat to eat than a chunkier mix, particularly if they have any dental changes. This is a general suggestion, and your vet can advise if your cat has specific eating difficulties.
Should I switch my senior cat to a dedicated senior food?
This depends on your cat's individual health and appetite rather than age alone. Some older cats do perfectly well on a general adult diet, while others benefit from an age-specific or therapeutic diet, which is worth discussing with your vet.
My older cat has gone off Sheba, what should I try?
A change in appetite in an older cat is worth mentioning to your vet, since it can have a health cause worth ruling out rather than being purely a preference issue. They can also advise on texture or format changes worth trying.
