Bow Wow

Bow Wow is a treats and chews brand built around variety — sausages, salami sticks, jerky-style pudding sticks and liver treats, across proteins from chicken and beef to tripe and even insect. It suits owners who like to rotate flavours regularly, or dogs who get bored of the same treat week after week.

A genuinely varied range

The Bow Wow line covers a lot of ground: the Yum Yum range comes in smoked meat, chicken liver, plain chicken and mint flavours, the Pudding Sticks come in poultry and collagen, tripe and collagen caramel, beef and collagen, and insect and collagen bacon flavour, and the Salami Sticks are split between beef and collagen and poultry and liver. Add the Natural Beef & Tripe Stick, Goose Liver Sausage, Super Sausage, Meaty Jumbos Chicken and Monster Munch, and there is enough variety here to rotate through without repeating a flavour for weeks.

That variety is genuinely useful for a fussy dog, or one on a rotational feeding approach where different proteins are deliberately introduced over time, rather than a marketing exercise — the flavours and formats are meaningfully different from each other, not the same base treat renamed.

Rotating flavours also helps if you use treats heavily for training, since a dog can lose interest in the same reward repeated too often, and swapping between the range keeps a training session genuinely motivating.

Novel proteins worth knowing about

The insect and collagen bacon-flavour pudding stick is worth a specific mention, because insect protein is a genuinely different option to chicken, beef or tripe — useful for a dog with sensitivities to more common meats, and increasingly used because it is a naturally lean protein source.

As with introducing any new treat, bring it in gradually alongside what your dog already eats rather than swapping everything over at once, and keep an eye on how they get on for the first few days.

Whichever variety you choose, treats should stay a smaller part of your dog's daily food alongside their regular complete meal, rather than becoming a meaningful share of what they eat in a day.
