Armitage
Armitage's own-brand accessories cover two very different jobs in our range: coloured sand sheets that line the floor of a birdcage, and a plastic litter tray for cats. Both are simple, practical products rather than headline items, and both are in stock and posted the same way as everything else we sell.
The sand sheets
The four Armitage sandsheets in our range — orange, green, red and blue — are cut to fit a standard cage floor and sold in packs of six. The sanded surface does two jobs at once: it soaks up mess between cleans and gives a bird something slightly abrasive to stand and scratch on, which helps keep beaks and claws worn down naturally.
Because they come in packs of six, one order covers roughly a fortnight of cage changes for most owners, which is long enough to be worth keeping a spare pack in rather than reordering every week. Swapping a sheet is a five-second job rather than a scrub, which matters if you're doing it several times a month.
The litter tray
The Armitage litter tray is a plain plastic tray sized for a single cat, without a hood or a raised lip. It's the sort of tray worth having as a spare — under a cat flap, in a second room, or as a backup while your usual tray is being washed — rather than a single household's only litter box if you keep more than one cat.
Multi-cat households do better with one tray per cat plus one extra, which is the standard welfare guidance for reducing toileting stress between cats. A basic tray like this one is an easy, inexpensive way to add that extra without needing to match your main tray exactly.
Who it suits
Bird keepers who want a low-effort way to keep a cage floor clean will get the most out of the sandsheets — they're not a premium product, just a straightforward one that does the job packet after packet.
The litter tray suits anyone adding a second or third tray to a multi-cat home, or anyone who wants a cheap spare rather than paying full tray prices for their main one.

Common questions
- What size cage do the Armitage sandsheets fit?
- The Armitage sandsheets are cut to a standard cage floor size, around 33cm by 25cm depending on the colour ordered, so check the dimensions on the product page against your own cage before ordering a pack.
- How often should I change a bird cage liner?
- Most owners change a cage liner every few days, more often if the cage is busy or the weather is warm, since the sand sheet is there to absorb mess rather than mask it. There's no fixed schedule — go by how the cage looks and smells.
- Does the Armitage litter tray have a lid?
- No, it's an open tray without a hood, which suits cats who dislike enclosed litter boxes and makes cleaning quicker, though it also means less odour control than a covered tray offers.
- How many litter trays do I need for more than one cat?
- The usual guidance is one tray per cat plus one spare, so two cats need three trays between them. Spreading trays around the house rather than lining them up together also reduces the chance of one cat guarding access.
