A cat does not read "with salmon" on a tin lid, but the fact that manufacturers print it there tells you what most owners are shopping on, which is exactly why it is worth checking what "with salmon" actually means on the composition list.

This is Whiskas' Ocean Menu, sold as a complete and balanced wet cat food in jelly, six 400G tins to a pack. The composition is led by meat and animal derivatives and cereals, with fish and fish derivatives including 4% salmon in the chunk — and Whiskas' own labelling notes the chunk is typically 40% of the product, so the tin is not predominantly salmon even though the name leads with it.

• 6 x 400G tins, complete and balanced cat food in jelly
• Composition led by meat and animal derivatives and cereals
• Fish and fish derivatives include 4% salmon in the chunk (chunk typically 40% of the tin)
• Protein 6.7%, fat 3.2%, moisture 83.7%
• Added taurine, zinc, iron and vitamins per Whiskas' additive panel

What the name does not fully say. "4% salmon in the chunk" is a fact about part of the tin, not the whole of it — the chunk itself is typically 40% of the product, with the rest made up of jelly and the wider meat, cereal and fish derivative mix. Read "With Salmon" as a flavour indicator rather than a statement that salmon is the main ingredient, because on this label it plainly is not.

Who it's for: owners feeding an adult cat a complete wet diet who want a jelly-style tin with a fish flavour, bought in the 6-pack rather than single tins.
