Guessing a portion by eye is one of the easier ways to accidentally overfeed a pet, a little at a time, over months - and a scoop with actual measurement markings on it removes that guesswork without needing kitchen scales at every meal. Van Ness's scoop is built for exactly that daily job.

It is high-impact plastic with an easy-grip handle, and carries graduated measurements moulded into the scoop itself so you can read off an amount rather than estimate it. It is dishwasher safe, which matters for something handled daily around food. The range covers two cup sizes - Regular and Large - so the same design scales to a smaller or larger daily portion.

• Graduated measurements moulded into the scoop
• High-impact plastic construction
• Easy-grip handle
• Dishwasher safe
• Available in Regular and Large sizes

On choosing a size. No cup or millilitre capacity is given on this card for either size, only the names Regular and Large themselves, so if you already use a specific measuring cup for portioning, it is worth comparing that against the scoop in person rather than assuming a match.

Who it's for: anyone measuring dry food by eye who wants a repeatable scoop size instead, in whichever of the two sizes suits their pet's daily portion.
