Full description

Timid bottom feeders often lose out when food stays near confident fish at the surface. A tablet that can be placed lower in the aquarium gives the keeper more control over where the meal becomes available.

Tetra PlecoMin is a complete tablet food for herbivorous bottom feeders. The 120 tablets sink quickly and may be placed in more hidden feeding areas. The composition includes milk derivatives, fish derivatives, vegetable protein extracts, cereals, yeasts and spirulina at 7.5%, followed by oils and fats, sugars, vegetable derivatives, molluscs and crustaceans, and minerals.

120 tablets
Complete food for herbivorous bottom feeders
Sinking format allows the feeding place to be selected
Spirulina 7.5%
Crude protein 40% and crude fat 6%
Crude fibre 2% and moisture 9%

What is missing: no feeding frequency or tablet count is published, even though the format makes counting tempting. Fish size, species and aquarium stocking are not enough to create a safe number from this page, so follow the directions on the pack for portions.

Who it's for: keepers of plecos, sucking loaches and other herbivorous bottom-feeding fish, particularly where shy fish need food placed away from busier surface feeders.

Tetra Plecomin

Why we chose it

Placement is the deciding advantage here: a sinking tablet can be put where a timid bottom feeder has a chance to reach it. The 7.5% spirulina declaration and complete-food status make the purpose of the formula clear.
