Pond dipping is one of the simplest outdoor activities for kids, and it needs almost nothing beyond a proper net sized for small hands rather than a full-size adult one borrowed from a parent's fishing kit.

This is a children's fishing net with a 6-inch diameter net head on a 3ft cane handle, sold in a variety of colours. Supa describe it as ideal for children during school holidays, which is really a description of the size and handle length as much as anything else - short enough for a child to control, long enough to reach into a pond or rock pool without leaning too far in.

• 6-inch diameter net
• 3ft cane handle
• Available in a variety of colours
• Designed for children

What's not on the card. Supa don't give a material for the net mesh itself or a weight, so if you need that detail for durability or safety reasons, it isn't supplied - and there's no adult-size equivalent listed alongside it, so this is specifically a children's item rather than a scaled-down version of a bigger net.

Who it's for: parents and grandparents keeping kids occupied pond dipping or rock pooling during the school holidays, rather than handing over an adult net that's too big and awkward for small hands to manage.
