Specifications

Brand: Suet To Go
Food type: These pellets are perfect for use with any pellet feeder and are an ideal complementary feed.

Full description

Insects are a much bigger part of a wild bird's natural diet than seed is, which is the whole reasoning behind putting them into a suet pellet rather than leaving suet as a plain fat block.

This is the insect recipe in the Suet To Go range: Wheat Flour, Beef Suet, Glucose, Ground Peanuts and Insects, formed into pellets and packed in a 3KG reusable tub. Citric Acid (E330) is added at 1320mg/kg, and the pellets carry a yellow colour. Suet To Go's instruction is to feed through a pellet feeder or place on a bird table at a safe height from predators.

Composition: Wheat Flour, Beef Suet, Glucose, Ground Peanuts, Insects
Citric Acid (E330) 1320mg/kg
Coloured yellow
3KG in a reusable, resealable tub
Feed via a pellet feeder or bird table

On the range. This is the insect recipe specifically — the composition doesn't name mealworms or berries. If you'd rather feed one of those, the makers stock them as separate pellets in the same Suet To Go line.

Who it's for: anyone feeding garden birds who wants a protein-leaning suet pellet through the colder months, and doesn't mind topping up a tub rather than binning a bag each time.

Why we chose it

Insects are what a lot of garden birds are actually short of in a garden feeding station stocked mostly with seed. That's what earns this its place as the protein option in the range, rather than being a third flavour for its own sake.
